Ainsley + Brandon's Modern Greenhouse Wedding in Philadelphia!

Ainsley and Brandon celebrated their wedding at the picturesque Horticulture Center in Philadelphia’s beautiful Fairmount Park. For Ainsley who loves the outdoors, getting married in a greenhouse was important and truly special, and we can certainly see the appeal: An abundance of lush greenery contrasted with soft florals, plus the most beautiful ceremony backdrop made up of cascading Spanish moss, satin ribbons, and romantic blooms. The entire soirée can be succinctly described as organic elegance meets modern romance!

Ainsley wore a custom version of Chana Marelus’ Clover gown. She loved the idea of long sleeves and wanted something formfitting. She ordered the Clover in a fit & flare silhouette at Spina Bride in NYC—a stunning version of the original A-line, if you ask us.

The proposal

“Brandon proposed in January 2018 on a skiing mountain in deer valley, Utah.  He had skied all day with the ring in his pocket. It was the most exciting day of my life. Our wedding date was March 2019.”

Our wedding venue

“We got married at the Horticulture center in Philadelphia, which is basically a huge green house. I love the outdoors and plants and was so excited to get married in such a special setting. It has a very industrial feel. I would say our theme was sort of modern garden party? We chose many ferns, airplants, Moss, branches and succulents over typical wedding florals. We also had babies breath boas instead of bouquets for our bridesmaids, which I was nervous about but couldn’t have been happier with how they turned out.”

What I loved about planning my wedding

“I loved dress shopping of course! I found my Chana marelus dress at Spina in New York. I loved so many dresses but eventually narrowed it down to two by Chana, they were like nothing else I had found! I was sure I wanted a dress with sleeves, and the beading and detail on the Chana dress I selected was just magical. I felt the dress was the perfect mix of both modern and whimsical.

We also really loved working with our wedding planner/designer. Originally I had so many ideas and details regarding flowers and decor that I wanted to incorporate and couldn’t commit to any one theme. They combined everything beautifully and we were blown away.”

Finding my dream dress

“My experience Spina in New York was in a league of its own compared to all the other places I visited on my search. The boutique was beautiful and conveniently located right next to our apartment in Chelsea. It was like it was meant to be! I didn’t even know about the store until our photographer recommended it.. I had many changes to the original gown I tried on, which I loved but i didn’t feel I was tall enough to rock. We took all the measurements and requested the changes: v-neck, fit/flare. I was really nervous to see how the dress would look on. I don’t think I had even tried on any v-neck dresses. Chana did an amazing job though and I was beyond happy with the result.”

My favorite memories of the wedding

“Our ceremony - what a rush! And the photos of course. The dress photographed so well, especially next to Brandon’s Tom Ford tux.”

Congratulations, Ainsley and Brandon!
